2 Kings 18:1-20
1Now it came to pass in the thirdH7969 yearH8141 of HosheaH1954 sonH1121 of ElahH425 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, that HezekiahH2396 the sonH1121 of AhazH271 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 began to reignH4427.1 2TwentyH6242 and fiveH2568 yearsH8141 oldH1121 was he when he began to reignH4427; and he reignedH4427 twentyH6242 and nineH8672 yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389. His mother’sH517 nameH8034 also was AbiH21, the daughterH1323 of ZachariahH2148.2 3And he didH6213 that which was rightH3477 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068, according to all that DavidH1732 his fatherH1 didH6213. 4He removedH5493 the high placesH1116, and brokeH7665 the imagesH4676, and cut downH3772 the grovesH842, and broke in piecesH3807 the brasenH5178 serpentH5175 that MosesH4872 had madeH6213: for till those daysH3117 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 burnt incenseH6999 to it: and he calledH7121 it NehushtanH5180.34 5He trustedH982 in the LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478; so that afterH310 him was none like him among all the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063, nor any that were beforeH6440 him. 6For he clungH1692 to the LORDH3068, and departedH5493 not from followingH310 him, but keptH8104 his commandmentsH4687, which the LORDH3068 commandedH6680 MosesH4872.5 7And the LORDH3068 was with him; and he prosperedH7919 wherever he went forthH3318: and he rebelledH4775 against the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, and servedH5647 him not. 8He smoteH5221 the PhilistinesH6430, even to GazaH5804, and its bordersH1366, from the towerH4026 of the watchmenH5341 to the fortifiedH4013 cityH5892.6
9And it came to pass in the fourthH7243 yearH8141 of kingH4428 HezekiahH2396, which was the seventhH7637 yearH8141 of HosheaH1954 sonH1121 of ElahH425 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, that ShalmaneserH8022 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 came upH5927 against SamariaH8111, and besiegedH6696 it. 10And at the endH7097 of threeH7969 yearsH8141 they tookH3920 it: even in the sixthH8337 yearH8141 of HezekiahH2396, that is the ninthH8672 yearH8141 of HosheaH1954 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, SamariaH8111 was takenH3920. 11And the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 carried awayH1540 IsraelH3478 to AssyriaH804, and putH5148 them in HalahH2477 and in HaborH2249 by the riverH5104 of GozanH1470, and in the citiesH5892 of the MedesH4074: 12Because they obeyedH8085 not the voiceH6963 of the LORDH3068 their GodH430, but transgressedH5674 his covenantH1285, and all that MosesH4872 the servantH5650 of the LORDH3068 commandedH6680, and would not hearH8085 them, nor doH6213 them . 13Now in the fourteenthH702H6240 yearH8141 of kingH4428 HezekiahH2396 SennacheribH5576 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 came upH5927 against all the fortifiedH1219 citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, and tookH8610 them.7 14And HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 sentH7971 to the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 to LachishH3923, sayingH559, I have offendedH2398; withdrawH7725 from me: that which thou puttestH5414 on me I will bearH5375. And the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 appointedH7760 to HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 threeH7969 hundredH3967 talentsH3603 of silverH3701 and thirtyH7970 talentsH3603 of goldH2091. 15And HezekiahH2396 gaveH5414 him all the silverH3701 that was foundH4672 in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and in the treasuriesH214 of the king’sH4428 houseH1004. 16At that timeH6256 did HezekiahH2396 cut offH7112 the gold from the doorsH1817 of the templeH1964 of the LORDH3068, and from the pillarsH547 which HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 had overlaidH6823, and gaveH5414 it to the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804.8
17And the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 sentH7971 TartanH8661 and RabsarisH7249 and RabshakehH7262 from LachishH3923 to kingH4428 HezekiahH2396 with a greatH3515 armyH2426 against JerusalemH3389. And they went upH5927 and cameH935 to JerusalemH3389. And when they had come upH5927, they cameH935 and stoodH5975 by the conduitH8585 of the upperH5945 poolH1295, which is in the highwayH4546 of the fuller’sH3526 fieldH7704.9 18And when they had calledH7121 to the kingH4428, there came outH3318 to them EliakimH471 the sonH1121 of HilkiahH2518, who was over the householdH1004, and ShebnaH7644 the scribeH5608, and JoahH3098 the sonH1121 of AsaphH623 the recorderH2142.10 19And RabshakehH7262 saidH559 to them, SpeakH559 ye now to HezekiahH2396, Thus saithH559 the greatH1419 kingH4428, the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, What confidenceH986 is this in which thou trustestH982? 20Thou sayestH559, (but they are but vainH8193 wordsH1697,) I have counselH6098 and strengthH1369 for the warH4421. Now in whom dost thou trustH982, that thou rebellestH4775 against me?111213
