17And it came to pass, when AhabH256 sawH7200 ElijahH452, that AhabH256 saidH559 to him, Art thou he that troublethH5916 IsraelH3478? 18And he answeredH559, I have not troubledH5916 IsraelH3478; but thou, and thy father’sH1 houseH1004, in that ye have forsakenH5800 the commandmentsH4687 of the LORDH3068, and thou hast followedH3212H310 BaalimH1168. 19Now therefore sendH7971, and gatherH6908 to me all IsraelH3478 to mountH2022 CarmelH3760, and the prophetsH5030 of BaalH1168 fourH702 hundredH3967 and fiftyH2572, and the prophetsH5030 of the grovesH842 fourH702 hundredH3967, who eatH398 at Jezebel’sH348 tableH7979. 20So AhabH256 sentH7971 to all the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, and gatheredH6908 the prophetsH5030 togetherH6908 to mountH2022 CarmelH3760.

21And ElijahH452 cameH5066 to all the peopleH5971, and saidH559, How longH5921 haltH6452 ye between twoH8147 opinionsH5587? if the LORDH3068 is GodH430, follow him: but if BaalH1168, then followH3212H310 him. And the peopleH5971 answeredH6030 him not a wordH1697.1 22Then saidH559 ElijahH452 to the peopleH5971, I, even I only, remainH3498 a prophetH5030 of the LORDH3068; but Baal’sH1168 prophetsH5030 are fourH702 hundredH3967 and fiftyH2572 menH376. 23Let them therefore giveH5414 us twoH8147 bullsH6499; and let them chooseH977 oneH259 bullH6499 for themselves, and cut it in piecesH5408, and layH7760 it on woodH6086, and putH7760 no fireH784 under : and I will prepareH6213 the otherH259 bullH6499, and layH5414 it on woodH6086, and putH7760 no fireH784 under : 24And callH7121 ye on the nameH8034 of your godsH430, and I will callH7121 on the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068: and the GodH430 that answerethH6030 by fireH784, let him be GodH430. And all the peopleH5971 came nearH5066 to him. And he repairedH7495 the altarH4196 of the LORDH3068 that was broken downH2040. 31And ElijahH452 tookH3947 twelveH8147H6240 stonesH68, according to the numberH4557 of the tribesH7626 of the sonsH1121 of JacobH3290, to whom the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came, sayingH559, IsraelH3478 shall be thy nameH8034: 32And with the stonesH68 he builtH1129 an altarH4196 in the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068: and he madeH6213 a trenchH8585 aboutH5439 the altarH4196, as great as would containH1004 two measuresH5429 of seedH2233. 33And he putH6186 the woodH6086 in orderH6186, and cutH5408 the bullH6499 in pieces, and laidH7760 him on the woodH6086, and saidH559, FillH4390 fourH702 barrelsH3537 with waterH4325, and pourH3332 it on the burnt sacrificeH5930, and on the woodH6086. 34And he saidH559, Do it the second timeH8138. And they did it the second timeH8138. And he saidH559, Do it the third timeH8027. And they did it the third timeH8027. 35And the waterH4325 ranH3212 aroundH5439 the altarH4196; and he filledH4390 the trenchH8585 also with waterH4325.12 36And it came to pass at the time of the offeringH5927 of the evening sacrificeH4503, that ElijahH452 the prophetH5030 came nearH5066, and saidH559, LORDH3068 GodH430 of AbrahamH85, IsaacH3327, and of IsraelH3478, let it be knownH3045 this dayH3117 that thou art GodH430 in IsraelH3478, and that I am thy servantH5650, and that I have doneH6213 all these things at thy wordH1697. 37HearH6030 me, O LORDH3068, hearH6030 me, that this peopleH5971 may knowH3045 that thou art the LORDH3068 GodH430, and that thou hast turnedH5437 their heartH3820 backH5437 againH322. 38Then the fireH784 of the LORDH3068 fellH5307, and consumedH398 the burnt sacrificeH5930, and the woodH6086, and the stonesH68, and the dustH6083, and licked upH3897 the waterH4325 that was in the trenchH8585. 39And when all the peopleH5971 sawH7200 it, they fellH5307 on their facesH6440: and they saidH559, The LORDH3068, he is the GodH430; the LORDH3068, he is the GodH430. 40And ElijahH452 saidH559 to them, TakeH8610 the prophetsH5030 of BaalH1168; let not oneH376 of them escapeH4422. And they tookH8610 them: and ElijahH452 brought them downH3381 to the brookH5158 KishonH7028, and slewH7819 them there.13

41And ElijahH452 saidH559 to AhabH256, Go upH5927, eatH398 and drinkH8354; for there is a soundH6963 of abundanceH1995 of rainH1653.14 42So AhabH256 went upH5927 to eatH398 and to drinkH8354. And ElijahH452 went upH5927 to the topH7218 of CarmelH3760; and he cast himself downH1457 upon the earthH776, and putH7760 his faceH6440 between his kneesH1290, 43And saidH559 to his servantH5288, Go upH5927 now, lookH5027 towardH1870 the seaH3220. And he went upH5927, and lookedH5027, and saidH559, There is nothingH3972. And he saidH559, Go againH7725 sevenH7651 timesH6471. 44And it came to pass at the seventh timeH7637, that he saidH559, Behold, there arisethH5927 a littleH6996 cloudH5645 out of the seaH3220, like a man’sH376 handH3709. And he saidH559, Go upH5927, sayH559 to AhabH256, PrepareH631 thy chariot, and go downH3381, that the rainH1653 may not hinder theeH6113.15 45And it came to pass in the mean whileH3541, that the heavenH8064 was blackH6937 with cloudsH5645 and windH7307, and there was a greatH1419 rainH1653. And AhabH256 rodeH7392, and wentH3212 to JezreelH3157. 46And the handH3027 of the LORDH3068 was on ElijahH452; and he girdedH8151 his loinsH4975, and ranH7323 beforeH6440 AhabH256 to the entranceH935 of JezreelH3157.16
