Context of Numbers 17:12
10The Lord said to Moses, “Bring Aaron’s staff back before the testimony to be preserved for a sign to the rebels, so that you may bring their murmurings to an end before me, that they will not die.” 11So Moses did as the Lord commanded him – this is what he did. The Israelites said to Moses, “We are bound to die! We perish, we all perish! 13(17:28) Anyone who even comes close to the tabernacle of the Lord will die! Are we all to die?”

Now, no one, in their apprehension, can come near to the…Read the comment

The people were terror-stricken by the fate of the company of Korah and by the plague. Presumption passed by reaction into despair. Was there any approach for them to the tabernacle of the Lord? Was there any escape from death, except by keeping aloof from His presence? The answers are supplied by the…Read the comment

Fruitfulness is the best evidence of a Divine call; and the plants of God's setting, and the boughs cut off them, will flourish. This rod was preserved, to take away the murmurings…Read the comment
