Context of Ezekiel 6:8
6In all your dwellings, the cities will be laid waste and the high places ruined so that your altars will be laid waste and ruined, your idols will be shattered and demolished, your incense altars will be broken down, and your works wiped out. 7The slain will fall among you and then you will know that I am the Lord. “‘But I will spare some of you. Some will escape the sword when you are scattered in foreign lands. 9Then your survivors will remember me among the nations where they are exiled. They will realize how I was crushed by their unfaithful heart which turned from me and by their eyes which lusted after their idols. They will loathe themselves because of the evil they have done and because of all their abominable practices. 10They will know that I am the Lord; my threats to bring this catastrophe on them were not empty.’

Commentaries on Ezekiel 6:8
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 8-10Verses 8-10 A remnant of Israel should be left; at length they should remember the Lord, their obligations to him, and rebellion against him. True penitents see sin to be that abominable thing which the Lord hates. Those who truly loathe sin, loathe themselves because of sin. They give glory to God by their repentance. Whatever brings men to remember Him, and their sins against him, should be regarded as a blessing.Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 8-10A remnant (a small group that remains) would be scattered among the nations. God would send them into many lands. There, they would bear witness to God’s faithfulness to his covenant (his promises to his people). In those foreign lands, they would see the truth about their own hearts. They would understand how they had been unfaithful to God. They would hate their evil and detestable sins. Then they would know that God was serious when he warned that he…Read the comment
