Context of Isaiah 21:14

12The watchman answers, “Morning is coming, and night will come again. If you need to ask, come back and ask.” 13This is the divine revelation about Arabia. You caravan of travelers from the people of Dedan will spend the night in the forest of Arabia. Bring water for the thirsty, you inhabitants of the land of Tema. Bring food to the fugitives. 15They flee from swords, from swords ready to kill, from bows ready to shoot, and from the thick of battle. 16This is what the Lord says to me: All of Kedar’s honor will be gone in another year. I will count it like workers count the years left on their contracts.

• Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 14The land of Tema "The southern country" - , Sept.; Austri, Vulg. They read תימן teiman, which seems to be right; for probably the inhabitants of Tema might be involved in the same calamity with their brethren and neighbors of Kedar, and not in a condition to give them assistance, and to relieve them, in their flight before the enemy, with bread and water. To bring forth bread and water is an instance of common humanity in such cases of distress…Read the comment

• Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 13-17Verses 13-17 The Arabians lived in tents, and kept cattle. A destroying army shall be brought upon them, and make them an easy prey. We know not what straits we may be brought into before we die. Those may know the want of necessary food who now eat bread to the full. Neither the skill of archers, nor the courage of mighty men, can protect from the judgments of God. That is poor glory, which will thus quickly come to nothing. Thus hath the Lord said to…Read the comment
