Context of Ezekiel 23:35
33The cup of your sister Samaria will be filled with drunkenness and sorrow. 34You will drink from it and drain it. You will break it into pieces and tear your breasts off your body. I have spoken, declares the Almighty Lord. “This is what the Almighty Lord says: You have forgotten me and turned your back on me. So you will be punished for your sinning and prostitution.” 36The Lord said to me, “Son of man, will you judge Oholah and Oholibah and tell them about their disgusting practices? 37They have committed adultery. Their hands are covered with blood. They commit adultery with their idols. They have sacrificed the children they gave birth to for me as burnt offerings to idols.

Commentaries on Ezekiel 23:35
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-49This chapter, like chapter 16, tells the history of the northern and southern kingdoms of Israel and Judah. It does this through an extended metaphor (a comparison that continues through many verses). In this comparison, Samaria and Jerusalem, the capital cities, are described as two immoral women. The language is strong and direct. This metaphor shows that their judgment was certain and deserved.Read the comment
