Context of Psalms 14:3
1Only fools say to themselves, ‘There is no God.’ People like that do bad and evil things. None of them do things that are good and right. 2The Lord is looking down from heaven. He looks at the people of the world, to see if there are any wise people among them. He looks to see if anyone wants to know God. But everyone has turned away from God. They have all become evil. Not even one person does things that are right! 4Will those evil people never learn? They destroy my people, as if they are eating a meal. They never pray to the Lord. 5Look at them! Now they are very afraid! They see that God is with the people who obey him.

They are all together become filthy - נאלחו neelachu . They are become sour and rancid; a metaphor taken from milk that has fermented and turned sour, rancid, and worthless. - Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 3They are all gone aside - This verse states the result of the divine investigation referred to in the previous verse. The result, as seen by God himself, was, that “all” were seen to have gone aside, and to have become filthy. The word rendered “gone aside” means properly to go off, to turn aside or away, to depart; as, for example, to turn out of the right way or path, Exodus 32:8. Then it means to turn away from God; to fall away from his worship; to…Read the comment
