Context of Numbers 31:29
27Give one half of all those things to the soldiers who went to fight the war against the Midianites. Give the other half to the rest of the people. 28From the half which belongs to the soldiers, keep one part out of every 500. Do that with the Midianite prisoners, the cows, the donkeys and the sheep. Those parts will be for the Lord. Give those to Eleazar the priest. He will offer them to the Lord. 30From the half that belongs to the people, keep one part out of every 50. Do that with the Midianite prisoners, the cows, the donkeys and the sheep. Those parts will be for the Levites who take care of the Lord's special tent.’ 31Moses and Eleazar did as the Lord said.
