Context of Leviticus 6:23
21They must mix it with oil and they must cook it on a flat plate. Then they must break it into pieces and they must offer it to the Lord. The smell of it will give the Lord pleasure. 22The son whom they will anoint to take Aaron's place must prepare the offering. All of the gifts that the priests give to God must be burnt completely. Nobody should eat them.’ 24The Lord said to Moses, 25‘Tell Aaron and his sons this rule. When a person does wrong things he must give an animal to the Lord. The animal will be holy. The person must kill the animal at the north side of the altar. That is where they kill the offerings for sin.

Had the priests been permitted to live on their own offerings as they did on those of the people, it would have been as if they had offered…Read the comment

This offering had to be burned completely and not eaten.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 19-2320. This is the offering of Aaron, and of his sons--the daily meat offering of the high priest; for though his sons are mentioned along with him, it was probably only those of his descendants who succeeded him in that high office that are meant. It was to be offered, one half of it in the morning and the other half in the evening--being daily laid by the ministering priest on the altar of burnt offering, where, being dedicated to God, it was wholly…Read the comment
