Job 30:1-10
11‘But now it is different. Men who are younger than I am laugh at me. I would not even trust their fathers to take care of my sheep.
2The work that those old men could do was no help to me. They no longer were strong.
3They were weak and thin because they were hungry. They had to look for food in the desert at night. They found roots to eat in dry places.
4They pulled up plants in the desert as their food. They burned the roots of bushes to keep themselves warm.
5People chased them away from their towns, as if they were shouting at robbers.
6They had to live in dry valleys, among the rocks, or in caves.
7They cried aloud like animals among the bushes. They hid together under the thorn bushes.
8They were foolish people that nobody respected. People chased them away from their land.
9But now their sons sing songs that insult me. They tell jokes about me.
10They hate me and they do not come near me. When they see me, they spit at my face.
Notes
- 1. Job 30:1 Job speaks about his troubles. He has no money. He has no friends who can help him. But he suffers very much. It seems that God will not answer his questions any more (verse 20). ↩
