Context of Jeremiah 48:32
30The Lord says, ‘I know about Moab's proud thoughts. But their pride is false. Whatever they do, it will be useless. 31So I am sad for Moab. I am crying for all their people. I weep for the people of Kir-Heres. I weep for the vines of Sibmah, more than Jazer weeps. The branches of those vines reached across the sea as far as Jazer. But the cruel enemy will destroy all the fruit that grows on your vines and trees. 33People will no longer be happy in the land where this fruit grows. I will stop them making wine from their grapes. They will not stamp on their grapes and shout with joy. Instead, the shouts will be shouts about trouble. 34In Heshbon and Elealeh people cry out because of their pain. The noise reaches as far as Jahaz. It reaches from Zoar to Horonaim and Eglath-Shelishiyah. Even the Nimrim river has become dry.’

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 14-47Verses 14-47 . The destruction of Moab is further prophesied, to awaken them by national repentance and reformation to prevent the trouble, or by a personal repentance and reformation to prepare for it. In reading this long roll of threatenings, and mediating on the terror, it will be of more use to us to keep in view the power of God's anger and the terror of his judgments, and to have our hearts possessed with a holy awe of God and of his wrath, than to…Read the comment

- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 3232. with the weeping--with the same weeping as Jazer, now vanquished, wept with for the destruction of its vines. The same calamity shall befall thee, Sibmah, as befell Jazer. The Hebrew preposition here is different from that in Is 16:9, for which reason Maurer translates, "with more than the weeping of Jazer." English Version understands it of the continuation of the weeping; after they have wept for Jazer, fresh subject of lamentation will present…Read the comment
