Context of Jeremiah 13:4
2So I bought a belt, as the Lord had told me to do. I tied it around me. 3The Lord spoke to me again. He said, ‘Take the belt that you bought and you are now wearing. Take it now to Perath. Hide it there in a hole in the rocks.’ 5So I went to Perath. I hid it there, as the Lord had commanded me to do. 6Many days after that, the Lord said to me, ‘Now go to Perath again. Get the belt that I told you to hide there.’

- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 44. Euphrates--In order to support the view that Jeremiah's act was outward, Henderson considers that the Hebrew Phrath here is Ephratha, the original name of Beth-lehem, six miles south of Jerusalem, a journey easy to be made by Jeremiah. The non-addition of the word "river," which usually precedes Phrath, when meaning Euphrates, favors this view. But I prefer English Version. The Euphrates is specified as being near Babylon, the Jews future place of…Read the comment
