Context of Jeremiah 10:11
9They bring thin silver from Spain. They bring gold from Uphaz. Workers who know how to use wood and metal make the idols look beautiful. They put valuable blue and purple clothes on the idols. Workers who have special skills do this. 10But the Lord is the only true God. He is the God who is alive. He is the King who rules for ever. When he is angry, the earth shakes. None of the nations can stop his anger. Tell the nations this: ‘Your gods did not make the earth or the sky. They will disappear completely from everywhere on earth and everywhere in the sky.’ 12But the Lord used his power to make the earth. He used his wisdom to make it strong. He knew how to put the sky to cover the earth. 13When he shouts like thunder, the water in the sky roars. He causes clouds to rise from the far places of the earth. He causes bright lightning to show in the storms. He opens his rooms so that the wind comes out and it blows everywhere.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 11Thus shall ye say unto them - This is the message you shall deliver to the Chaldean idolaters. The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish - Both they and their worshippers shall be destroyed; and idolatry shall finally be destroyed from the earth; and the heavens shall look no more on so great an abomination. It is suffered for a while: but in the end shall be destroyed. This verse is written in a sort of…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 11This verse is (in the original) in Chaldee. It was probably a proverbial saying, which Jeremiah inserts in its popular form.Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 11The pagan gods were not there when the heavens and earth were created, and they are not eternal. The original text of this verse is in Aramaic. This might suggest it quotes an Aramaic saying and was directed at the exiles in Babylon, where people spoke Aramaic.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 1111. This verse is in Chaldee, Jeremiah supplying his countrymen with a formula of reply to Chaldee idolaters in the tongue most intelligible to the latter. There may be also derision intended in imitating their barbarous dialect. Rosenmuller objects to this view, that not merely the words put in the mouths of the Israelites, but Jeremiah's own introductory words, "Thus shall ye say to them," are in Chaldee, and thinks it to be a marginal gloss. But it is…Read the comment
