Context of Psalms 14:3
1The fool says in his heart, “There’s no God.” They are corrupt; they do vile deeds. There is no one who does good. 2The Lord looks down from heaven on the human race to see if there is one who is wise, one who seeks God. All have turned away; all alike have become corrupt. There is no one who does good, not even one. 4Will evildoers never understand? They consume my people as they consume bread; they do not call on the Lord. 5Then they will be filled with dread, for God is with those who are righteous.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 3They are all gone aside - This verse states the result of the divine investigation referred to in the previous verse. The result, as seen by God himself, was, that “all” were seen to have gone aside, and to have become filthy. The word rendered “gone aside” means properly to go off, to turn aside or away, to depart; as, for example, to turn out of the right way or path, Exodus 32:8. Then it means to turn away from God; to fall away from his worship; to…Read the comment
