Context of Numbers 30:15
13Her husband may confirm or nullify any vow or any sworn pledge to deny herself. 14But if her husband says nothing to her from day to day, then he confirms all the vows and pledges that bind her. He has confirmed them, because he said nothing to her on the day he heard about them. But if he nullifies them after he hears of them, then he will bear her iniquity.” 16These are the statutes that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the relationship between a man and his wife, and between a father and a young daughter still in his home.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 3-16Verses 3-16 Two cases of vows are determined. The case of a daughter in her father's house. When her vow comes to his knowledge, it is in his power either to confirm it or do it away. The law is plain in the case of a wife. If her husband allows her vow, though only by silence, it stands. If he disallows it, her obligation to her husband takes place of it; for to him she ought to be in subjection, as unto the Lord. The Divine law consults the good order…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 10-15A married woman needed her husband's approval to make vows and pledges. Her husband could cancel her religious promise. But he had to decide on the day he heard about it. God did not blame the married woman for breaking the promise if her husband canceled it correctly (compare 30:5, 8, 12). The self-denial mentioned in 30:13 probably refers to fasting. If he did not object, the husband's silence meant he agreed. He could not delay his objection, or he…Read the comment
