Mark 11:8-9
8Many in the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut from the fields. 9The ones who went ahead and those who followed were shouting:
“Hosanna!”1
“Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”2
Notes
- 1. Mark 11:9 Hosanna is a transliteration of the Hebrew Hosia-na, meaning Save, we pray or Save now, which became a shout of praise; see Psalm 118:25. ↩
- 2. Mark 11:9 Psalm 118:26 ↩
