Context of Leviticus 8:20
18He brought the ram for the burnt offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram. 19Moses killed it and sprinkled the blood around on the altar. When he had cut the ram into pieces, Moses offered up the head, the pieces, and the fat in smoke. 21After he had washed the entrails and the legs in water, Moses offered up the whole ram in smoke on the altar. It was a burnt offering for a sweet and soothing aroma, an offering by fire to the Lord, just as the Lord had commanded Moses. 22Then he brought the second ram, the ram of consecration (ordination), and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram.

We may also rejoice, that he is a merciful and faithful High Priest, full of…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-36In Exodus 28–29, the Lord gave Moses detailed instructions for clothing and ordaining Aaron and his sons as priests. In Exodus 39:1–31; 40:12–16; and Leviticus 8, they followed these commands. Moses did not only tell them the instructions. He performed the ceremonies to show the priests exactly what to do, as the Lord had commanded him (8:9, 13, 17, 21, 29). Since disobedience could lead to death, God ensured the priests understood their duties clearly.Read the comment
