Unto thee will I cry, O Lord my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit. Psalm 28:1.

The Spirit of God says in Psalm 27, 28, 29, 81, 89, 90, 91, 92 and 93: “These were written for those upon whom the ends of the world are come.” This being so, we should make them our every day study. Why not preserve this number of the worker, and read the above over and over again, and study the heavens?

How terrible it is when the acknowledgment of God is not made when it should be made! How sad to humble one’s self when it is too late. Why, O, why, do not men heed the invitation? The psalmist said, “When thou saidst, Seek ye my face, my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.” [Psalm 27:8.] The whole of this psalm is excellent, and should <find a place> in the reading and spelling lessons of the classes. The twenty-eighth, twenty-ninth, and seventy-eighth psalms tell of the rich blessings bestowed by God upon His people, and of their poor returns for all His benefits.

It is now three months since we left Melbourne. We have traveled about twenty-five hundred miles by sea and by land, and I have written over three hundred pages of letter paper. I have spoken to the people forty-one times, and am gaining in health, and strength, for which I render thanksgiving and praise to God every day, and in the night season. “Blessed be the Lord, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.” [Psalm 28:6-8.] “I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” [Psalm 34:1-4.] I know not how to be thankful enough for the goodness and mercy of God to me. I desire to devote myself, soul, body, and spirit to His service.

“I waited patiently for the Lord;
And He inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the
miry clay,
And set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise
unto our God.”
“The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped:
Therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth;
And with my song will I praise Him.” Psalm 27:1; 27:5, 6, R.V.; 40:1-3; 28:7.

Through faith, irrespective of feeling, Jesus, the Author of our salvation, the Finisher of our faith, will by His precious grace strengthen the moral powers, and the sinner may reckon himself “to be dead unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ.” [Romans 6:11.] Simple faith, with the love of Christ in the soul, unites the believer to God. While toiling in battle as a faithful soldier of Christ, he has the sympathy of the whole loyal universe. The ministering angels are round about him to aid in the conflict, so that he may boldly say, “The Lord is my helper,” “the Lord is my strength and my shield;” I shall not be overcome. [Hebrews 13:6; Psalm 28:7.] “By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” [Ephesians 2:8.]
