The Lord is working. The salvation of His striving people is promised to the Saviour. “Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power.” [Psalm 110:3.] The Source of all divine agencies gives an energy to souls by His Holy Spirit, whereby He works in the children of disobedience, causing the dead in trespasses and sins to become transformed, to put away their sins and live to Christ. The men heretofore blinded by the enemy may see the worldliness in believers, and they will be disgusted at its truly hideous character in the light of Christ’s divine glory and beauty through the revealing of the truth as it is in Jesus. It is the light of life. It is a soul-energizing light.

The Lord is working. The Saviour has been promised the salvation of His people. “Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power.” [Psalm 110:3.] He who is the source of all power gives energy to souls by His Holy Spirit. His power is the light of life, a soul-energizing light. By His Spirit He works in the children of disobedience, raising to newness of life the dead in trespasses and sins, leading the transgressor to put away his sins and live the life of Christ. Henceforth the surrendered soul lives in harmony with God. The Spirit takes of the things of Christ, and shows them to him with so transforming an effect that he becomes a new man in Christ.

As the angels beheld the over-mastering anguish of the Son of God, the words were spoken, “The Lord hath sworn, and he will not repent.” [Psalm 110:4.] Father and Son have clasped their hands, and are mutually pledged to fulfill the terms of the everlasting covenant, to give fallen man another chance.

The Priest and Sacrifice were now taken hold of by God in order. The One who was obedient unto death is now taken into eternal unison both as God and man. The Father says to Him, “Thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.” [Psalm 110:4.] When by faith we see Christ in His human and divine nature, it is because God has revealed Him. The hidden wisdom which no man ever can or will explain to the sense of men, “God ordained before the world unto our glory, which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory.” See 1 Corinthians 2:2-11.

Oh, for sweet quietude of mind. I try to stimulate my soul, saying, Believe; believe in Christ Jesus. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Through Him and Him alone is our salvation. He will guide us amid difficulties. He will help us. I will endeavor to follow Him in humble, practical obedience, through glens of trial, but walking where Christ leads the way. “I am,” He says, “at your right hand.” [See Psalm 110:5.] I will trust in Thee, my Saviour.
