God chooses His workers from all classes of people, and imbues them with His own spirit. So it was in ancient times. The men and women of God’s selection were of intense earnestness, full of zeal. The last books of the Old Testament show us workers taken from the laborers in the field. Others were men of high ability and extensive learning, but the Lord gave them visions and messages. These men of the Old Testament spoke of the things transpiring in their day, and Daniel, Isaiah, and Ezekiel not only spoke of things that concerned them as present truth, but their sight reached down to the future, and to what should occur in these last days.

Prophets and Kings

Chapter 42—True Greatness

PK 514.1

Exalted to the pinnacle of worldly honor, and acknowledged even by Inspiration as “a king of kings” (Ezekiel 26:7). Nebuchadnezzar nevertheless at times had ascribed to the favor of Jehovah the glory of his kingdom and the splendor of his reign. Such had been the case after his dream of the great image. His mind had been profoundly influenced by this vision and by the thought that the Babylonian Empire, universal though it was, was finally to fall, and other kingdoms were to bear sway, until at last all earthly powers were to be superseded by a kingdom set up by the God of heaven, which kingdom was never to be destroyed.

Ezekiel 26:12-14. Read the history and study these statements closely. There will be the fulfillments in our world. The fulfillment of these statements will come to be a temptation to those who have accepted the truth, and some will fulfill the statement. Satan will lay out his plans to practice bribery in the spirit of commercialism. I am much agitated to give the warnings to our people. Those who claim to believe will play at games to obtain property—in some respects as games of cards. [They can be] classed with gamblers. Such a state will come in that those who are drawn into these kinds of games will lose their bearings and reproach will come upon the ones who lost in the game.
