Read Job 37 in the Bible

Job 37:2

The Old Testament often links thunder to God's voice (36:29, 33; 37:5; 38:1; Exodus 19:16–19; Psalm 104:7).

Job 37:7

He seals up the hand of every man … know His work: The end of the farming season gives people time to think about God's control over everything.

Job 37:13

God's actions can have multiple purposes. For example, storms can both destroy enemies and bring victory to God's people (Joshua 10; Judges 4; 1 Samuel 7:10–11; Psalms 18:7–15; 105:32–33).

Job 37:17

The hot south wind made it very hot and uncomfortable.

Job 37:20

Should He be told that I want to speak? Would a man ask to be swallowed up?: Contesting God's judgment might lead to severe punishment, even death (see 13:14).

Job 37:22

Out of the north (Hebrew from Zaphon): In the literature of the ancient city of Ugarit, Zaphon was the northern mountain home of the false god "Baal." Here, it symbolically refers to the height of God's home in the heavens (see Isaiah 14:13–14).
